East Anglian Book Awards 2022

I’m absolutely delighted that my pamphlet Ovarium, published by The Emma Press in June, is one of three shortlisted poetry collections for the East Anglian Book Awards 2022.

The Awards are a partnership between Jarrold, the Eastern Daily Press and the National Centre for Writing, supported by UEA Faculty of Arts and Humanities. Category winners will be announced in January.

Readings in September

I am very much looking forward to my first in-person readings since before the pandemic. I will be reading for ignitionpress at The Horse Hospital in Bloomsbury on Thursday 15 September, 7-8.45pm, and then for The Emma Press at The George and Monkey in Islington on Sunday 18 September, 4-8pm. I’m really excited to be reading for both my publishers in the space of a week!

The writing year ahead

I am excited to be stepping into 2022, a new year of writing. In June my second poetry pamphlet, Ovarium, will be published by The Emma Press. I found out late last year that my first full collection has been shortlisted in Live Canon’s 2021 Collection Competition, and I am now waiting to hear if it gets selected as one of the three winners. Even if it’s a near miss, the shortlisting has been very encouraging. I am also deep into the latest draft of my second novel, which is a happy and stimulating place to be.

Competition commendation

I am very happy that my poem ‘Results will be with you as soon as possible’ has been commended in the 2020 Café Writers Open Poetry Competition judged by Helen Ivory. I will be reading at the winners event via Zoom on 8 February 2021.

Pamphlet to be published by The Emma Press in 2022

I am enormously excited that my second pamphlet – working title Ovarium – will be published by the wonderful Emma Press next year. I’m very much looking forward to working with my editor, Emma Dai’an Wright, and to bringing these poems into the world.
